His name was "Amavas" which means darkness. Whomso-ever he came in contact with, encountered tragedies and darkness. His state was that of a hungry dog, but he dreamt of riches and wealth.
Finally a politician (Kadar Khan) took him under his wing and gave him a job of a mike-fitter. As soon as he (Mithun) got the job, he trapped an innocent girl (Madhu). Thinking it unwise to approach the girl's parents for her hand in marriage, because of his poor family background, he decided to have the honey-moon without the wedding.
Getting (Mithun) involved in politics, he was made to stand for the M.L.A. elections by the politician. Going from house to house Madhu gathered every woman's vote for Amavas, thus helping him to become an M.L.A.
Soon he got involved in crime & sin and married an exemperor's daughter (Moushumi) Tara Devi, thus fulfilling his ambition of attaining riches and wealth.
But Madhu, who was carrying Amavas' illegitimate child was left in the lurch. The Panchayat held a meeting to decide upon her fate. Swearing on fire, Amavas agreed to adopt the child on the condition that Madhu should name the culprit.
Highly disillusioned and embarrassed Madhu and her parents left the village. After giving birth to a baby boy, Madhu passed away.
Time passed, but Amavas was unaware that his son had grown young, become a Police Inspector and had come to the same town, where he continued his evil deeds.
Though Amavas had married Tara Devi, she never allowed him touch her. In fact she adopted his son (Young Mithun) and warned Amavas, that if he ever raised even an eye towards the Inspector, she would expose his black acts.
Does Amavas clear his way, by killing the Inspector?
Does Tara Devi expose Amavas?
Does the Inspector avenge his mother?
